MODELS

As the word says, a cigarbox guitar is made from a cigarbox, the box being the resonator for the strings so the sound will be amplified in a natural way. I get my boxes from some good cigarshops here in town or cities I visit. Consider them a kind of souvenir. Then I prefer to work with boxes from the more expensive brands like Cohiba, Joya de Nigaragua, Montecristo. These are nice big boxes, making a better resonator. And the quality of the boxes of expensive cigars - € 500 for a box is quite normal - is good; nicely lacquered and a good set of hinges and lock.

Overall, I make two kinds of models; the basic fretless threestring and a fully fretted fourstring.

The threestring is built according to a proven construction going back in time for ages: perfect to let the blues ring out in its most pristine way.  And at first sight my fourstrings may look quite the same, but hell, ever heard of the devil in disguise?

By the way, I also made several guitars of other things; a tin cookie-box (great banjo-like sound!), metal film cans (looks like a banjo, but sounds like... wel yes, a movie can). As a matter of fact it's possible to make a guitar of anything hollow made of metal or wood. So if you've got this old cookie tin from  grandma, hate to throw it away but don't know what to do with it, bring it over and we'll make Granny rock again!
